Backpacking around Azeroth: Dun Morogh

May 01, 2009 :: Posted by - Stompalina :: Category - Other

Greetings Rarwcast fans,

My last post saw me suggest my own quest line which would involve trekking around Azeroth and grabbing photos of various landmarks. I actually really like this idea so I’ve decided to embark upon a huge project which will see me backpack my way around Azeroth and The Outlands!
Join me as week by week I explore each zone and attempt to uncover random facts, interesting landmarks and offer my insight into just what’s going on in the World of Warcraft we all inhabit! Also, being a dwarf it is only natural that I guide you to the best drinking spots in Azeroth!!

This week I start my journey in Dun Morogh:
Dominant Population: Dwarves
Likely to encounter: Wolves, Frostmane Trolls, Troggs & Leper gnomes
Points of Interest: Anvilmar, Coldridge Pass, Gol’Bolar Quarry, Thunderbrew Distillery & Gnomeregan

Adventurers in this area will start their journey at Anvilmar, tucked into the South-west region of Dun Morogh this area is pestered by Frostmane trolls, whilst wandering wolves await wary travellers. Hospitality can be sought at the Anvilmar forge, named after the legendary ‘Modimus Anvilmar
Pressing on through Coldridge Pass explorers will have to cut their way through the dirty troggs that have taken refuge from the cold and seek any opportunity they can to disrupt trade lines. Be sure to say hi to Hands Springsprocket as you emerge into Kharanos and stop by at the Thunderbrew Distillery, home to the finest Ale in Azeroth and host to the eternally entertaining Taverncast crew!
Travellers are now faced with a choice; Westward bound will lead you to the ill-fated Gnomeregan once the proud capital of the Gnomish kingdom now condemned to the rule of Troggs and blighted gnomes. Adventurers may be tempted to seek out the Hydrocane Staff rumoured to be held by a being known as ‘Viscous Fallout’ but wisdom counsels me to steer clear from the metallic maze that has confounded many who wander in.
Head east from the heart of Kharanos and you will find the Gol’Bolar Quarry where you can lend a hand pushing back the Trogg resistance and mine a plentiful supply of copper. It’s a real shame to see the dwarves’ hard work halted in this region, especially at such a crucial time in the war against the fouler sides of Azeroth. Take out their leader ‘Hammerspine’ and help overthrow these pesky Troggs once and for all and you’ll find a frosty beer waiting for you in the Distillery!
That’s all for this week folks, be sure to turn in for the next chapter which will see me uncover the mysteries of Ironforge and its denizens.
Signing out.
Emeny, a.k.a Melkejal.
