Steamy 4th of July on Rawrcast!

June 28, 2009 :: Posted by - Stompalina :: Category - Community, Podcast

The summer is heating up at Rawrcast! And, this week we are kicking things off with a special double-header 4th of July.
We are starting off the day with our Euro-Friendly Special Episode at 9AM, CST/4PM, CEST featuring none other than Patrick Beja! Patrick is known for many things throughout our WoW Community, including his regularly featured segment on The Instance, Co-host of How I WoW, and now lead host on the new Movielicious along with Nicole Spagnola and Turpster! We will be chatting about all of Patrick’s current projects, his involvement in the social networking community, and his plans for the future. Things are bound to get wild as we open the floor for an exclusive Q&A session with Patrick, the Frenchman with a flare for all things Warcraft!

Then, the fireworks start to glare as we welcome Keeva from Tree Bark Jacket to our regularly scheduled show at 4PM, CST! Keeva started as many other players have, loving the game and writing a blog. But, now she has become the go-to resource for all things Tree-related. Filling in the shoes of Momma Phaelia, Keeva has kept her straight forward blog at the top of our minds with her feelings of equality, common sensibility, and openness to others opinions. Together, we will be talking tree as we review the upcoming 3.2 changes, review changes in previous patches, and discuss some developments we would like to see from the game in the near future.

So, stop on by our discussion forums for more information, propose questions to our guests, or recommend guests for future episodes of Rawrcast!

Rawrcast: Ep 25 – Warglaive Pr0n

June 27, 2009 :: Posted by - Stompalina :: Category - Podcast

This week has been one of great change for Haf and Stomp as we decided to peel off from our long-standing raiding guild and form a new guild known as . Aside from preparing a new guild structure, website and searching for the right recruits, we also spent a large chunk of time on the PTR this week, and we are raring to go once the testing schedule is announced on the PTR Forums. If you are interested in joining us on the PTR, or hanging with us on our home server of Staghelm, please check out our new guild website!

Beyond the new guild, we also welcomed a long-time in-game friend to the show – Dycekt! Together, we touched upon a few of this week’s news stories, and reviewed a few articles we found on buffd.net!

If you haven’t heard, buffd.net is a new player powered news source where you can submit news stories you find interesting, as well as read and comment on other player’s submissions. Buffd has already made great strides in wrangling up support from the player community, and they are now official sponsors of Rawrcast! So, take a minute to check out their open beta site, and provide some feedback on how Buffd can best be utilized and developed to suite your WoW News needs!

All of this, and much, much more is available for your listening pleasure via iTunes, RSS feed, download, or you can stream it from our main page.

Backpacking Around Azeroth: Searing Gorge.

June 25, 2009 :: Posted by - Stompalina :: Category - Other

Greeting Rarwcast fans!

With nary an ounce of ale in sight it is with much trepidation that I venture out from the Stonewrought Pass and into the Dustfire Valley. The landscape here is as barren as a sober dwarf’s breakfast bowl; the ground itself seems to drink up the sun and radiate with an intense, dry heat that burns the throat with unquenchable ferocity.

This is a land that was carved from the cataclysmic summoning of Ragnaros, but I shall save that tale for my next adventure which will take me into Blackrock Mountain and deliver me to the Burning Steppe.

For now I must press on into The Cauldron where I wish not to linger. Dark Iron dwarves rule this zone and put to work anyone foolish enough to fall under their sway. Slaves dig relentlessly for some unknown purpose, though speculation suggests they’re looking for artifacts relating to the Old Gods quite what the Dark Iron dwarves expect to summon if they succeed I dread to think but if the signs in Ulduar are anything to go by then Azeroth would be in grave peril if these Dwarves succeed.

In my efforts to free some of the poor folk trapped in this torturous labour camp I tackled a number of Taskmasters and slavers only to find that the slaves turned on me and fought against their redemption. Clearly the strain of this place has driven them mad, the hipflask at my side has never come in handier than now, as a few drops of Ironforge ale is enough to lift my spirits and resume my explorations here.

Pressing into the cauldron you will find the Slag Pit, home to the shy incendosaurs whose scales are highly sought by the Thorium brotherhood. Should you wish to earn a place amongst their ranks then hunting these creatures would serve you well. Be sure to stop by Thorium point before you head into the Pit and pick up the bounty on the traitorous Overseer Maltorius and keep an eye out for Master Smith Burninate’s flux plans, both can be handled en route to the home of the incendosaurs.

Thorium Point is the main camp in this desert, serving both the Alliance and the Horde; gryphons offer the safest route into and out of the zone. Just be sure you don’t wander onto the wrong side!

Encroaching on this haven is Firewatch ridge, populated by War Golems and Dark Iron excavation workers this area hums with the peculiar activity of the Twilight Hammer. These cultists can be found at work just west of Thorium point where they appear to hold captive the spirit of a Night-elf male whose tale of woe can be resolved by those willing to help find his stolen prayer to Elune.

Nearby, explorers will discover a cave which upon further examination reveals an interesting treasure. Many of you will no doubt recall the recent event that saw a voice booming from the ether the announcement that ‘The ice stone has melted’. This mysterious voice has since been silenced but travellers will be amused to see that the ice stones in this cave did not fall prey to the melting!
The activities of these cultists and their minions is a tale that will take some telling, but with little booze to hand and only the crackling heat of the land pulsing up through the soles of my feet I shall save that story until a more opportune time.
For now let’s quickly skip South where Blackrock mountain lies in between the Gorge and the Burning Steppe. It is here I will take refuge and close this chapter. My flask is running dry but fortunately I know of a good bar inside the mountain!! Join me next time as I promise a more abundant segment, plenty of ale and the history of events at Blackrock Mountain begging to be kindled!

Emeny.

Rawrcast: Ep 24 – Mother Turducken Badges

June 21, 2009 :: Posted by - Stompalina :: Category - Podcast, Raiding

This week’s show is raging with change and deep relaxing breaths. Details around the upcoming 3.2 patch were announced by Blizzard this week, and the podcast came to a crashing halt as differences of opinions, perspective and poultry added to heated discussions.

The live chat room was also jumping, and the Q&A brought up the idea that there will be life after World of Warcraft – possibly the new Star Wars MMO or Copernicus. Who knows what the future has in store?

All of this, and much, much more is available for your listening pleasure via iTunes, RSS feed, download, or you can stream it from our main page.

Rawrcast: Ep 23 – Rawr-chucks

June 08, 2009 :: Posted by - Stompalina :: Category - Podcast, Raiding

This week was HUGE, both personally, in-game and on the show. Personally, plans are being made for the “Under the Hood” segment with Kyle from Doghouse Systems. Make sure to catch their podcast, and more information about their amazing line-up of products at www.doghousesystems.com.

In-game, our raiding forecast is improving as our guild merged this week with another raiding guild on the server. The prospects of 25-man raiding are looking more promising once the changes are finalized and we all get to know each other. Is your guild merging to maintain raiding attendance during the summer drought? Let us know!

Join us June 20th, at 6PM, CST, right after our live show, for the Death Knight raid with Wych, Wemb and Tempeste on the Jubei’Thoes | US Oceanic server. We will be streaming LIVE, so follow us on twitter for more information and a link to the live feed Saturday night.

All of this, and much, much more is available for your listening pleasure via iTunes, RSS feed, download, or you can stream it from our main page.

Rawrcast: Ep 22 – Exodus: Shib UNLEASHED

June 04, 2009 :: Posted by - Stompalina :: Category - BlizzCon, Podcast, Raiding

This week we were joined by two members of leadership from the guild [EXODUS], Kaywarrior and Shibo. After weeks of hard-mode Ulduar progression, Exodus shares with us how they consistently push progress, maintain a solid level of expectation among raid members, and the commitment it takes to maintain membership in a top-tier raiding guild.

K explains why he liked raiding more before the advent of achievements, why Sunwell would have been considered all hard-mode by Wrath’s standards, and throws down expectations of Icecrown World Firsts in their future.

We also shared a bit more information about plans that are coming together for RAWRCON: Blizzcon Saturday, and the contents of our HUGE SWAG SACKS are coming together nicely. If you have a product or website you would like to promote, throw your swag in our sacks – send us an e-mail for more information! There will be many opprotunities to snag the swag, so mark your calenders for RAWRCON, August 22nd @ 4PM, CST!

All of this, and much, much more is available for your listening pleasure via iTunes, RSS feed, download, or you can stream it from our main page.
