Random Number Generator or Karma?

September 30, 2009 :: Posted by - Stompalina :: Category - Community, Guilds

Today was a gorgeous day here in North Texas. One of the many tasks I had set before me was to have my car’s oil changed. Rather than hanging around inside the stuffy waiting room filled with outdated magazines and blatantly obvious infomercials, I decided to park myself on a bench outside of the service station. Soaking up the afternoon air I made small talk with a gentleman also enjoying the breeze. When all of the sudden, down the road a stretch about 200 yards from the station a little blue Subaru came to a hazardous stop in the middle of traffic. With lights flashing, I could make out the frantic flipping and flopping of hair in the driver side seat of the car. I gently motioned to the gentleman waiting beside me and said, “Looks like she is having car issues.” He agreed and went back inside.

Building a Guild: The Basics

September 30, 2009 :: Posted by - Emeny :: Category - Community, Guilds

Double Blade ButcherAs a guild master myself, and having seen Stomp and Haf recently setup their own guild, ‘Bound’, I decided it would be a good idea to jot up some thoughts on how to go about setting up your own guild. I’m sure many of you are budding GMs with a passion for the game and a want to run things in a particular way. Setting up a guild is the best way of getting from the game exactly what you want, provided you find enough like-minded people to support your goals. So if you are on the verge of setting up a guild, or if the idea has tugged at the back of your mind but you’ve been concerned with just how to pull together the details to make a decent go at guild management then I hope this article proves some use.

The High Cost of No Consequences

September 23, 2009 :: Posted by - Rhabella :: Category - Cataclysm, Class Discussion

On this week’s Blue Plz!, TotalBiscuit pontificated on the worgen and goblin racials for Cataclysm, and proceeded to inform everyone how great it was they were overpowered.  He reminded us how in most RPGs, there is a cost associated with your decisions, but WoW has, interestingly enough, really removed penalties for any major decision you make in the game.

A Lost Philosophy

I have a confession to make: WoW is my first MMO.  It is one I thoroughly enjoy, but it is unlike any RPG I have ever played before.  My first RPG ever was Final Fantasy, the 8 bit masterpiece released on the original Nintendo.  It was a game my dad had gotten for me from one of his friends at work who didn’t enjoy it, and he even gave me the official strategy guide.  Even today, it has playability and will always have a special place in my heart. Uniting with all of Azeroth

HHV

As if there isn’t enough going on… I started toying around with some ideas for a holiday season charity event shortly after Blizzcon. And, the first name that popped into my head was Brigwyn of The Hunting Lodge, and now wow.com. He had remarkable success pulling off the Children’s Week for Child’s Play event back in May, so I thought he would be a likely com padre in putting something together for the festive holiday season baring upon us all. Just so happened, that very same week Fimlys and Nibuca of Twisted Nether Blogcast approached Brig with a similar proposition. Since we all had the same goal, and vision for a World of Warcraft community charity event, we decided to team up! Read more…

On the show Foofy shares why she started the Moonkin 101 Video Series, and plans for the videos in the future.

Stomp also had an opprotunity this week to sit down and chat with Ayanami of Vanquish of Staghelm to chat about their World First – Earth, Wind, and Fire (10-man) achievement. Arenas for the New Player

September 19, 2009 :: Posted by - Aellerian :: Category - PVP

Dead or AliveWelcome to another installment of Dead or Alive. I will be your host and today I would like to talk about the ins and outs of Arenas for the new player:

The first question is… What are arenas?

Arenas are areas set up by the Steemwheedle Cartel where players can create a team of 2, 3, or 5 and face off against another team of the same size to the DEATH for gear, titles, mounts and glory. You can find everything you need to make a team and play one in Dalaran sewers or at any one of the 5 arenas located around Azeroth. We have The Ring of Trials in Nagrand, The Circle of Blood in Blades Edge Mountains, The Ruins of Lordaeron in Tristfal Glades, and The Ring of Valor in Orgrimmar. Each offer a variety of different obstacles to use at your disposal.

There are three different scores a player can obtain and this is where it gets confusing for most people. You have a team rating, personal rating, and match making rating (MMR). The easiest to understand is the Team Rating so lets start there.
