Crisis on Multiple Servers

One of the big changes coming with Patch 3.3 is the introduction of randomized dungeons. In order to facilitate this, Blizzard has enabled cross-server LFG (read: players from multiple servers can run instances together). Ultimately, players from all different servers will be running heroics and raids together with a complete group of unknowns.

Hold on, I’m not done. Blizzard has also removed the regular and heroic dungeon dailies and replaced them with randomized counterparts (running a heroic or a regular dungeon with a group of random players from multiple servers). In addition, all heroics now grant two Emblems of Triumph and all random heroic dailies grant two Emblems of Frost (the new Patch 3.3 Emblems). Also, there will be no more lockouts for players who run randomized heroics (so you can run HVH all day long with as long as the group is random). Got all that?

We’re about to see a tremendous change to the way groups and raids are formed in WoW. I suppose the intention here is have all skill levels of players play with each other (possibly allowing skilled players to play with less experienced players, thereby raising the average competency level across servers?). It’s unclear which servers are going to be linked together for cross server LFG (hopefully, servers with high populations and dedicated player bases will be linked) but it is clear that Blizzard is tearing down many of the boundaries that have previously existed in game.

I’m going to reserve my judgment on this one and differ to the readers. How do you all think this is going to play out? Are you anticipating a positive impact on LFG (more players to run instances with) or a negative impact (wiping your way through heroics with alt-tabbers)?
