From 30-40 In the Battlegrounds

We have all heard the rumors and reports from people who have leveled their toons in the battlegrounds. Well I am a skeptic and I don’t totally believe all of the reports of how easy or how quick it is in the BG’s. So, I decided to do something about it and test out the theory on how easy it is to level in the BG’s.

Over the next couple weeks I am planning on leveling my toon almost solely in the BG’s. The reason I say “almost” is the fact that I am planning on leveling my cooking and doing some exploring at the same time. The cooking will most likely require some killing and xp gains in the process and while I explore I am bound to be pulled by some mobs and will need to kill them also. In the end however it is my plan that 90+% will be from the BG’s.

Okay, here I am a level 30 Paladin ready to enter the first Arathi Basin of my leveling experiment. I am ready to be pwned and mocked as a level 30 pally when I am facing too many higher level 30’s. This is going to be an experience!

I am now Level 31 and the first level did not go so well. I was killed so many times I do not care to count, I was somewhat useless to the horde in many of these battles. It was not pretty. The saving grace was that Arathi is somewhat fun, but this level in Warsong is like having someone slowly insert a steak knife into my eyeball.

I have come to realize that when it comes to PVP the levels 30-34 are somewhat at a disadvantage in the BG’s. When you hit 35 you can get better enchants and then at level 38 you get the next set of better weapons and armor from the battleground vendors. The difference between 38 / 39 and 30-34 is so huge that you stand very little chance one on one.

That is where you stand more often than not in Warsong. With the field being much more open and the battles happening everywhere you do not have the benefit of the masses, where as in AB you do. If you are at a node in AB then usually you will be fighting with others on your side and you have a much better chance of surviving.

31-32 let me sum it up this way: Fuck! More Warsong and some of the other players are just dickheads. I am sick and tired of listening to some tool in chat badmouth other players, including me, while he extorts his / her own value of protecting the flag carrier as we LOSE! If you have a problem with someone or have some advice for other people send them a message nicely. It is rude to call people out in chat because you think what you are doing is right and what they are doing is wrong. TOOL!

Arathi is my savior again. At this level I so enjoy Arathi so much more. I have more than 70 AB emblems and 35 Warsong. I am spending some AB emblems on some boots and considering a belt. The conundrum for me is whether it is worth it since it is only 8 levels to plate. Should I just wait?

But then, I will have how many more emblems by the time I get to plate. I can use these now and make myself better and then use the future gains on more gear when I hit plate. I haven’t decided yet, but I will have to soon.

I killed about 25 spiders in the Arathi Highlands to get my cooking skills up. I am up to 114, so I will have to run over to Tarren Mill and kills some bears to get to the 150 cooking level. Need to start working on my herbalism while I am waiting for each BG invite.

I hit level 33. More to come in a few more days.
