C’mon Blizz where is my Worgen?

January 08, 2010 :: Posted by - Ozimandias :: Category - Cataclysm, Community, Other

Worgen! My poor rogue.  She was parked at the end of BC after leveling my dwarf priest to 70 through instance after instance. It was at the time very hard to get raid slots as a somewhat poorly geared rogue. “We need a healer” became my mating call and out went my priest, leaving my rogue abandoned and alone. Then I started a DK,  leveling BS, mining, fishing, cooking and first aid to max level, and now I am leveling a hunter. I want to play my human rogue, but it seems stupid considering that I absolutely can’t wait to level a Worgen rogue. This past weekend I looked to see if there was any new information on the Worgen.

I have not found any new information on the new classes since the announcement hit Blizzcon. NONE in over four months. What is up with this? Despite the new content, the DF, and the virtual loot giveaway it enables, I have noticed something in the community as a whole. It appears to be falling apart.

BRK leaves. We heard about the “Kalgan B Team” taking over the development of WoW. Arenas seem to have been a mistake. Ghostcrawler seems to be wrapped in QQ grief. There is a huge shakeup over at wow.com.  Not only is the community seemingly getting smaller, it seems to just be bored. The gated content just highlights the problem: There is not enough content in Wrath. People are losing interest, the forums are a mess, and wow.com is losing writers left and right.

I really hope that I farm enough emblems on my way to 80 (hunter is 76 now) to get my gear score high enough to get into level 80 raids/instances. The very thing that Blizz put in there to get people who fell behind the gear curve ahead of it, is the biggest barrier to getting gear. “If you need gear from this instance, you don’t need to be here.” What kind of sense does that make? We are going as fast as possible and you better not talk in chat, drink or go to the bathroom or you are going to be kicked. Tanks get pissed at DPS, DPS pulls more mobs to ‘help the tank’ healers get pissed at under-geared tanks, human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria.

Is this where we are headed towards? I was so excited about Cata, but this past 3 months has been horrible. We got pets, lots of them. Some you pay for (Core Hound, Panda, ect.) others are free. We got realm transfers, sex changes, faction changes. All seem to be a smoke screen to hide the complete lack of information concerning Cata and a slow drip of gated content. There are greener pastures out there. Modern Warfare 2 is amazing on Xbox Live. Dragon Age: Origins has my tired-from-work ass hunting down a couple stubborn achievements as I play through a second time. Assassin’s Creed 2, Left for Dead 2, the list goes on and on…Blizz wake the ‘ef up.  I want to play a Worgen rogue. Please fix WoW.  Soon!

    Wow, it was tough to get your comment system to let me log in and comment. Jeez.

    Anyway, you are right that Blizzard is not even coming close to keeping up when it comes to content. Which is insane considering that they now produce more content than ever before. We just consume it so much more quickly now, which is mostly a result of their design decisions to make things more accessible. I don’t give a crap about putting a few more dollars in Bobby Kotick’s pocket: *they NEED to hire more people to develop this game and produce content faster*. NEED.

    As for gearscore: yeah, it sucks when some people are douchey about how they use it. But you seriously got to be sh***ing me that you are complaining about it being too hard to gear up. It is so easy to catch up now it’s a joke, especially compared to vanilla and even TBC. Weren’t you complaining on your show on the 3rd that “epics aren’t exclusive enough anymore”? Some people’s expectations about gear are way too high, yes. But *way more* people have an overgrown sense of entitlement where they can run a heroic in ungemmed blues and pvp gear while levelling their weapon skill and think that’s totally OK. It cuts both ways.

    Thanks for the comment,and we are looking into a new system for comments. I would like to be in some tier 9 gear, which seems to be the standard that most PUG players are looking for, before I start running heroics. I was not complaining that it was hard, I was actually miffed that I was leveling so fast that I wasn’t going to have enough badges when I hit 80. You are right about catching up being easy, and I really understand that someone in mostly quest reward greens shouldn’t be in heroics. I just don’t like the direction that wow is heading in. It doesn’t seem healthy and people are already leaving the game. Wow wants both the hardcore base it started with and the casual player to coexist with no serious consequences to either one, and that just can’t work. I really hope that I wrong here, but I don’t see this as being a sustainable solution to getting everyone into end-game content.

    “human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria.” Ghostbusters quotes win every time. This post says it all too.

    Hehe, I’m really looking forward to making a Worgen Rogue too! In fact, I want to play a few Worgen classes. Thinking of starting a new Rogue to level up but also moving my Draenei Warrior over to one. Just a shame they can’t be Shamans… makes perfect sense lore-wise to me! More so than Dwarves anyway ;)

    Thanks! I was hoping that someone would catch that GB reference. Now, if only Alyssa Milano….
