Monk Class Coming in Cataclysm!

Bruce Lee loveIn a stunning revelation, an inside source has again come to rawrcast.com and revealed what must be the biggest secret about the upcoming expansion, Cataclysm. Blizzard has already announced that the “old world,” the world as it stood when World of Warcraft launched back in 2005, was getting a complete overhaul. All the zones that players have grown accustomed to over the past 5 years are going to be changed, some radically. Desert zones are going to become lush forests, forests are going to be full of molten lava. Quests are being reworked and instances or dungeons as we all know them are going to be tuned to the new level cap, bringing new rewards. There are going to be two new races to pick from, the Worgen and the Goblin. The level cap is going to be raised from the current level 80 up to level 85. Cataclysm is shaping up to be a huge expansion to the long-running MMO.

What has shocked a lot of players is there was not an announcement of a new class to play with the expansion. In Wrath of the Lich King, the Death Knight was introduced. The Death Knight has become a viable tanking class. The Death Knight helped to address the lack of tanks in the game. Now, an inside source, an inside inside Blizzard source has leaked to rawrcast.com that Cata will bring a healing class, the Monk, to the World of Warcraft.

“Monks will change the way that players heal in World of Warcraft,” our source says. “Healers typically stand in the back of the raid and fill boxes. We wanted to make healing more interactive. The tanks get to have a lot of fun gathering mobs, generating threat. It is sexy,” our interviewee’s smile came through over Skype. “We want to take the fun of DPS, and fill a role at the same time. The monk class lets us do that.”

“Monks are intensely in tune with themselves and the environment. Everything that they do, from eating to chores, is spiritual. The same is true with combat. Monks will heal in direct proportion to the damage that they do. So if a monk does 10,000 damage, he will do xx amount of healing. That’s right Monks will heal by kicking ass.”

This is going to get more DPS players excited about healing. There are going to be specs specifically for self-healing (soloing) and party and raid healing (end-game). Monks will use fist weapons mostly, but can use maces, daggers and staves. Monks will wear cloth and will be a hero class like the Death Knight. “We wanted the monk to make an impact as soon as possible, and they will start at level 65 in an instanced starting zone. The first couple of levels will teach the player the new abilities and talent trees that worked so well for the Death Knights.”

Monks were supposed to be announced at the next BlizzCon, but just like the WoW TCG that we were called out on, we expect to get howls of protest over this as well. Our trusted source this time is a Blizzard employee named April Phoose. Asked why she chose to risk her job over a leak she said, “Ahh, you know it is only a job. I have an important place in the Blizzard Empire. In fact, I only get to talk to hot fansite editors once a year. I wouldn’t worry too much about me.” She blows a kiss over Skype and winks and she is gone.

While I am blown away and giddy with excitement, the brief interview leaves more questions than answers. I guess that we have to wait like the rest of you for BlizzCon. The idea of healing through DPS is an intriguing one, and I can’t wait to try it!
