…because another one of my favorite WoW bloggers is calling it quits. Pike over at http://www.aspectofthehare.net/ is taking some time off to concentrate on RL stuff. I can’t say that I blame her, but it is a bummer. I can honestly say that Pike and the guys over at http://www.brigwyn.com/ have inspired me to take my NE Hunter from level 32 and this hunter has replaced my DK and my Priest as my main.
Pike has great stuff on Hunters and Resto Druids, and WoW in general. She also covers stuff from raiding to casual play. She also writes about complicated stuff like Linux. And fish.
Pike I wish you luck and hope you come back sooner rather than later!

A guild member sent me a link to a promotional video put together by the producers of a new World of Warcraft documentary that is currently in the early stages of production. It is called The Raid, and from the look and feel of the early video, it will be a great representation of the life, love and passion behind the players and guilds within World of Warcraft.
Rawrcast has already made a contribution to support the planned production of the film, and I would recommend that others do the same. By supporting the film you not only are a part of production of the movie, but there are also membership benefits like donor status on TankSpot.com, movie posters, production notes, etc.
I am excited to see who all is involved onscreen and behind the scenes. With the support of our amazing online community, this is bound to be an amazing representations of our lives in-game, and our love of raiding.
My poor rogue. She was parked at the end of BC after leveling my dwarf priest to 70 through instance after instance. It was at the time very hard to get raid slots as a somewhat poorly geared rogue. “We need a healer” became my mating call and out went my priest, leaving my rogue abandoned and alone. Then I started a DK, leveling BS, mining, fishing, cooking and first aid to max level, and now I am leveling a hunter. I want to play my human rogue, but it seems stupid considering that I absolutely can’t wait to level a Worgen rogue. This past weekend I looked to see if there was any new information on the Worgen.
I have not found any new information on the new classes since the announcement hit Blizzcon. NONE in over four months. What is up with this? Despite the new content, the DF, and the virtual loot giveaway it enables, I have noticed something in the community as a whole. It appears to be falling apart. Read more…

I for one have never really understood the idea of paying real money for virtual items. Just 5 years ago, this would never have crossed the mind of the average person. As we enter 2010, (and yes I understand that this is not a new decade–I think, DAMN YOU TRADE CHANNEL) we are going to take a quick look at this concept and how it might impact the World of Warcraft.
The very first time that I can remember paying money for a virtual item was back in 2006. It was the geniuses at Micro$oft that made the process easy. In fact they employ a tactic used in casinos for ages. What casinos do is convert your greenbacks to something that you really don’t have a whole lot invested in, plastic chips. If you think about it, it is easier to hand over a black plastic chip that says $100 than it is to actually see your 5 $20 bills out there acting all scared and stuff. Read more…

On Thursday, we talked about the forums and ways for Ghostcrawler to improve his image while maintaining and presence on the forums. Today, I will address how Ghostcrawler has changed an entire community and how I am likely to remember him long after they shut down the World of Warcraft servers.
Back in July when Elder Gaming posted on the WoW B Team, I was one of the people who came to the B teams’ defense. There is often a stigma with when you mention something like B movie or B team. The very connotation of a B student is one who is alright, but not the best, those students get the A status. We all know that sometimes the B status isn’t really all that bad though.
The NFL currently has 2 high profile quarterbacks who started out as backups or 2nd teamers, B teamers if you will. One is the 78 million dollar man who plays for the Dallas Cowboys known as Tony Romo, and the other is the 3 time Superbowl champion and 2 time Superbowl MVP for the New England Patriots, Tom Brady. Surprisingly, their stories are very similar, they both were late round draft picks up, were backups for an overall number one draft pick, Drew Bledsoe, and both were given the reigns to their teams at a time when practically no one but their teammates even knew they existed, and then, well, they started down 2 very different paths. Yesterday, we examined the current state of the Ghostcrawler experiment. Today, we will take a look at how the forums are nothing more than a nuisance for someone as intelligent as GC, and why he needs to follow his instinct, and get the hell off of there.
The answer to the Ghostcrawler experiment is hidden deep within season four of The West Wing. When GC told us why he believed blue trackers sucked, he reminded us all that 10 word answers are just the tip of the sword. Players post on the forums, and when they do one of two things happen. They give a 10 word rant that looks something like, “ZOMFG, why do paladins suck, I’m canceling my account” and fail to give the next 10 words, or the next 10 after that. They fail to really have the opportunity to express their concerns. If they try and take the other approach, well the first replies on a lengthy post lean towards, “don’t wall of text noob.” Read more…
