Fantasy for the WoW Reader!

September 21, 2010 :: Posted by - thehistorychic :: Category - Lore, Other, Pagecraft

WoWI thought reviewing World of Warcraft books would be easy but I was wrong. I have started 3 of them and put them down because they just rehash the story already told in-game. To me, they are lacking originality needed to keep a reader interested.  I chalk it up to the game developers putting so many stories in-game that it is hard for an author to come up with something original set in that world without having to change the Lore.  So what is a gamer to do other than find something similar to read? Fantasy seems to be the answer to this quest!

So with that in mind, I was asked to come up with a list of fantasy books that I thought would appeal to WoW gamer.  This was perfect timing as I just attended a SciFi/Fantasy conference this weekend and was lucky enough to meet a ton of authors.  I was really impressed with how popular Fantasy is becoming again.  Creatively, I think this is the most diverse genre as basically the rules are whatever the authors mind can create.   There are some great creative minds out there so the options are limitless. Pagecraft: Arthas: Rise of the Lich King by by C. Golden

Welcome to Pagecraft!

My name is Felicia aka Fleabee and I review books in my spare time.  I have three main hobbies in my life: Reading Books, Playing World of Warcraft, and Crocheting.  I haven’t quite figured out to factor crocheting into the mix but the folks at Rawrcast figured out a way for me combine reading and warcraft: review for them.  Since I already do this for all the other books I read,  I jumped on the opportunity and went searching for the first book.  Talk about a quest! Since I have never read a book based on a game, I tried to pick one that I had heard about from other people.  Come to find out there are two main authors that kept popping up: Christie Golden and Richard A. Knaack. So I decided that my first two books would be from them. Though I am always on the lookout for book suggestions so please leave a comment if there is one you think I should read.  Also because I believe in getting everyone involved, there is a poll to decide what I should read for my 3rd book.  Vote and you could win a copy too (if the random.org gods are smiling upon you).
