How to Create an MP3
Download Audacity. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
Install it, then open the program. It should look something like THIS:

The red circle is the record button. First, just hit it and try talking into your headset. If little squiggly lines are going, then you are recording. Hit stop. Then play it back. Remember if it is not loud enough, you can turn it up to the left of the track. Just mess around if you have to, you’ll get it.
If you cannot hear yourself, try switching the source at the top of Audacity from the drop down menu. Go to “microphone”.
Ok, so say you get something recorded. You can hear it, it is pretty loud and clear, and you are happy with it. Go to File then to “Save Project As” and save it on your desktop named something easy, like myrecording or something.
Now comes the important part…you need to export this file as an MP3. Now, Audacity does not come with the dll to turn your file into an mp3. If you go FILE then to EXPORT AS MP3 you will see that it says something about missing a DLL file. Write down that file name. It should be called lame_enc.dll , so write that down. Like, now. Open up your browser and go to google, and type in that file name and hit search..this is the address you should go to (I go to it all the time..its good..) http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?lame_enc
Now, you download that file to your desktop. Open that file..it should be a zipped file. Just extract or drag the DLL to your desktop. Now when you go back to Audacity and go to file–export as MP3 and it asks you to locate the file, point it to that DLL. It will then ask you to fill out some information about your MP3 (and please do this, such as artist, file name and notes) then you export it.
Special thanks to Leala Turkey at epicdolls.com for the initial write-up of these instructions.
